Bihar police have arrested an Islamic cleric for allegedly molesting and blackmailing a 12-year-old girl student at a madrassa. The cleric was blackmailing the minor girl with sharing her videos on social media platforms.
He has been booked under charges of rape and the POCSO Act.
The incident took place in the Nawada district of Bihar. The accused cleric has been identified as Shahadat Hussain, a resident of Gadhi village of Jamui district. He was working as a teacher at a madrasaa run by the Noori Mosque located in the Kauwakol area for the past three years.
The minor victim told the media that Hussain said he was like her brother and clicked a few pictures with her. He used to praise her a lot for her studies. After clicking pictures with her, he started blackmailing her.
He threatened her saying if she did not adhere to his demands he would share her pictures on social media platforms. Fearing his threats, the victim kept doing whatever the cleric asked her to do. She did not tell anything to her parents.
He has been doing this to the minor victim for years, she said. When she told everything to her parents, they stopped sending her to the madrassa. He then started blackmailing her, and would ask her to meet him.
It is noteworthy that this minor girl is not the only victim of his filthy acts, as per reports. The police after arresting him recovered his mobile phone which contained obscene videos and pictures of other girl students as well.
There were as many as 90 students enrolled at the madrassa.
The First Information Report (number—3/2023) in the case was registered at the Kauwakol police station of the Nawada district on 4 January 2023.
Rashtra Jyoti called up the Kauwakol Station House Officer, Rajesh Kumar, who said the accused has been arrested by the police yesterday (4 January).

The statement of the victim’s mother is also circulating on the internet. She told the media that her daughter used to go to a nearby madrassa to study. The cleric clicked a picture keeping his hands on her shoulder and started blackmailing her.
The cleric Hussain on the other hand told the media, ‘Hum Mohabbat ki gehrai me pahuch gaye the. Unke gharwalo ko malum chalne pe, wo bacchi ko rokne lage, use baat mat karo mat milo. Kuch din tak hum karte rahe, filhaal breakup ho gya. Fir baatchit band ho gayi.’
