In Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, a man identified as Mohammed Waseem was detained on suspicion of doing lewd actions inside a temple on 18 December.
The temple, Vishweshwar Mahadev, where the incident took place is located in Prakash Nagar, which falls under Sanyogitaganj police station (Indore urban).
The man’s actions came to light after CCTV footage started circulating on various social media platforms.
The Police
As per reports, Wasim has been booked for violating the National Security Act, informed the police.
After receiving the information, the police examined the CCTV footage and apprehended the suspect.
“Yesterday we got info that a youth was doing obscene acts. CCTV footage of the area checked. Accused Wasim arrested. Action being taken under NSA act,” news agency ANI quoted Station House Officer of Sanyogita Ganj Police Station, T Qazi, as saying.
The accused was accustomed to drinking, the police officer said.
“Being drunk is nothing new to the accused. Under the NSA Act, steps are being taken. His phone will be examined further, as well as his actions, ” he said.
Rashtra Jyoti called up the Town Inspector of Sanyogitaganj, Lokendra Kumar, on 19 December. He said that a first information report number 614/2022 has been registered against the accused.
He said the police teams are checking CCTV footage of all the nearby temples to see if the accused performed the same activities there as well.
The Viral Video
In the video of the incident that is making rounds on the internet, a man can be seen taking water from the vessel hanging over the ‘Shiv Ling’ to pour water. Then he touched his penis with the same hand. He later unzips his pant inside the ‘Garbha Griha’ of the temple.
