A 34-year-old man identified as Mohammad Anwar from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district strangulated his wife to death after she refused to have sex twice in one night, police said. He was accompanied by his brother, Danish, in this crime. The incident took place on 6 December 2022.
Both the accused have been arrested by the police. See an update by the Amroha police below:
As per a report by The Times of India, Mohammad Anwar in a video statement admitted to his crime. He told the police that on the night of Monday (5 December), he had sex with his wife. After some time, he wanted to do it again, but his wife refused.
Angered over his wife, he strangled her with the help of a rope. He says after killing her, he packed her in a polythene sack and dumped it in the forest around 50 kilometers away from his house.
In a bid to cover up the crime, he asked his mother-in-law to file a police complaint on 6 December stating that his wife had gone missing.
In a video statement released from the Twitter handle of the Amroha police, the station in-charge, Vijay Kumar Rana, told the media that one Zahira Khatoon gave a complaint at Amroha Kotwali Nagar on 6 December saying that her daughter Rukhsar had gone missing.
Related to this complaint, an unidentified dead body was recovered from the Ratupura forest located in Moradabad. A murder case was registered at the Takurdwar police station the same day.
Later, investigation revealed that it was Rukhsar’s body.
Another complaint was then registered at the Amroha Nagar police station by the victim’s brother. The police concluded that it was Anwar and Danish who had committed the murder.
Rana said that the police teams recovered a motorcycle and a scissor from their house which were used in the murder. They used the scissor to cut the hairs of the victim.
The accused have confessed to the crime, the officer said.
As per a report by Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar, Rukhsar, 30, lived in Mohammadi Sarai colony of Amroha. Anwar married Rukhsar in 2013. The couple had three children from this marriage. The ground floor of Anwar’s house is used by him for his bakery work while the upper story is where he and his family lived.
Anwar killed his wife in the bakery and then with the help of his brother dumped the body in the forest, the report says. Rukhsars body had only a pair of leggings on when the sack was opened by the police. The body was first packed inside a polythene then was kept in the sack.
Anwar concocted a story to his mother-in-law assuming no one would ever find his truth. The police teams however busted him in a day. Both the accused have been booked under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence).
Anwar told the media that Rukhsar disrespected him in front of her brother Mohsin and then was a reason for constant tension between them.
