Husband Dumps Baby In Jungle After Wife, Who Eloped And Married Him, Dies After Childbirth

A woman named G Divya eloped and married a man named Mohammad Shahbaz after her family showed resistance against the alliance. She moved in with him to Hyderabad.

Recently she died after giving birth to their child in the hospital. Within hours of her death, Shahbaz took the baby and left it near the bushes to die. He has been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police.

How it happened

As per a report by The Times of India, both Shahbaz and Divya worked at a health insurance firm in Hyderabad. They moved in together in 2020 after her family did not agree with her choice.

In 2022, Divya became pregnant. On 23 December she gave birth to a girl child at the ESI hospital. Her condition deteriorated and she was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital, where she died.

On 25 December, Shahbaz took the dead body of Divya and the baby in an ambulance to Gudivada. On reaching the Donabanda area, the driver stopped the vehicle for a quick nap. Shahbaz quietly left the newborn near the bushes there. He left the place only with Divya’s body.

It was only after a woman passing by who heard a baby crying, that the baby was rescued. She informed the police from where the newborn was shifted to a child care center located at Vijaywada.

The next morning, on 26 December, the Hyderabad police tracked the vehicle returning from Gudivada to Hyderabad and interrogated the driver. It was then that a case against Shahbaz was registered.

As quoted by ANI, Circle Inspector P Srinu, said, “Shahbaz left the baby in the thorny bushes at Ibrahimpatnam Mandal Donabanda, while taking Divya to the hospital in the ambulance.”

He added that the police saved the baby and handed it over to an NGO named Share And Care in Gannavaram.

CI added that they have arrested Shahbaz with the help of the locals and that further investigations are underway.
